  1. Three of the x86-based utility programs that accompany the Windows NT 
  2. Resource Guide in the Windows NT Resource Kit are known to have bugs.  This 
  3. ZIP file contains fixed versions of these utilities.  Notice that these bugs 
  4. are only in the files installed from the floppy disks.  The utilities on the 
  5. CD-ROM shipped with the Windows NT Resource Kit have already been fixed.  
  6. Replace your current version of these utilities only if they are dated 
  7. earlier than the versions in this ZIP file.  Additional information is 
  8. provided in this README on each of the three utilities and on how to replace 
  9. the old version with the new one.

  11. These tools were developed internally at Microsoft and any use of them 
  12. is at your own risk. These tools are provided "AS IS" and without warranty 
  13. of any kind.  Microsoft disclaims any implied warranty of merchantability

  17. DUMPEL.EXE
  18. ==========
  19. PURPOSE: Dump Event Log is a command-line utility that you can use to dump 
  20. an event log for a local or remote system into a tab-separated text file.  
  21. You can also use this utility to filter for or filter out certain event 
  22. types.

  24. PROBLEM: Occasionally fails to dump a log file.

  26. HOW TO REPLACE: Copy the file DUMPEL.EXE into the directory where you 
  27. installed the Windows NT Resource Guide utilities, which will most likely 
  28. be called the c:\RESKIT directory.

  31. NET2SET.EXE
  32. ===========
  33. PURPOSE: This utility installs the program for Net2Com.
  34.  
  35. PROBLEM: Occasionally doesn't install Net2Com correctly.  The symptom is 
  36. that the Net2Com service will not start.

  38. HOW TO REPLACE: Copy the new NET2SET.EXE onto floppy disk #2 of the 
  39. Windows NT Resource Guide.

  42. DIRUSE.EXE
  43. ==========
  44. PURPOSE: DirUse shows the disk space used per directory.  You can use this 
  45. to check how disk space is being used in users' home directories. If you run 
  46. DirUse while logged on as a member of the Administrators group, you can 
  47. check the use of disk space in directories on an NTFS partition, even if you 
  48. don't have access rights to those directories.

  50. PROBLEM: Doesn't generate alerts when the /a switch is given and only one
  51. directory is specified.

  53. HOW TO REPLACE: Copy the file DIRUSE.EXE into the directory where you 
  54. installed the Windows NT Resource Guide utilities, which will most likely 
  55. be called the c:\RESKIT directory.
